Like an airplane coming in to land always appears to speed up as the runway comes up to meet the wheels, so December 25th appears to accelerate towards us the closer we get to that date. That’s probably why, with all the time we appeared to have to get those usually small jobs done, it’s usually ‘the last minute’ before they are complete.
Fortunately, as members of the IVVCC, Christmas is seldom a deadline as regards our hobby. December is probably the quietest month of our year, at least for ‘out and about’ events which were well supported, as were all our 2019 offerings, which included some very interesting ‘First Monday’ meetings. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported our events in any way. I thank the Board and those not actually on the Board but who look after the membership and entries. Also sincere thanks to all involved in anyway with the organising of club events.
The Active Retired Members (ARM) once again had a great year, so again thanks to all involved.
Many thanks are also due to all who contribute to the great success of the IVVCC News, which is a very welcome alternative on Christmas night to The Dam Busters or The Bridge Over The River Kwai.
Christmas is not always a joyous time for everyone and perhaps we could make use of the great friendships we have made within our Club to reach out to friends who would value a call, a chat and cup of tea, or some Christmas spirit. Spread a little kindness, everyone is ‘fighting a battle’.
June and I have enjoyed another great year which continues to ‘surprise’. One of those surprises is the varied and unusual correspondence from places well removed from Co Wicklow! Thank you to all who get in touch and please keep the messages coming.
To all our members and friends – Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
