February News 2017

Our new ivvcc.ie website is now live and we hope that you are enjoying the new style and format? You can keep up-to-date with IVVCC and our affiliate club events by checking out the Events Calendar. You can now also enter online for the IVVCC events. It is also possible to renew your annual membership online and new members are always very welcome. We plan to add extra enhancements to the site in due course.

FIRST MONDAYS
Our First Monday meeting on February 6th was well attended and Kieran White made a very interesting presentation on historic racing which was well received by the audience.
Our March First Monday will be a film presentation by Paul Noctor and Tom Sheridan which should prove to be another interesting evening.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The AGM will be held in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise on Sunday 9th April at 3pm. The relevant paperwork, with full details of the day, will be forwarded to all 2017 members prior to the date. It is intended to organise a drive from Dublin, leaving at 11.30am, to arrive at the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise, between 1-1.30pm, so that people will have the opportunity to use their old cars and will also have time to have lunch, if they so wish, prior to the commencement of the AGM at 3pm. Secure, convenient parking, will be available at the hotel.

SPRING EVENT FOR 1930’s CARS
This is proving to be a very popular event with hotel rooms filling up very quickly. Therefore we would encourage anyone considering taking part in the event, which takes place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May to send in their entry quickly.

FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT in PUNCHESTOWN
The IVVCC is pleased to announce that we will be organising a very special event on Sunday 14th May to be held in Punchestown Racecourse, Co Kildare.
We believe that this event, which we are designating as the IVVCC Festival of Transport in Punchestown, will appeal to all historic and classic motoring enthusiasts, steam operated machinery and all forms of transport. This will be an attractive day out for the general public to come and see transport from the dawn of motoring up to modern classics.
The Festival of Transport is primarily a partnership between the IVVCC and our affiliate clubs. The Punchestown complex comprises indoor parking for six hundred cars and also outdoor parking for at least 1000 vehicles, so there is ample space to accommodate everyone. This venue is very suitable for this type of event, as weather mainly ceases to be an issue.
We hope that you will embrace this opportunity to become involved in this exciting festival and you should email: [email protected] or Ph: 01-4016988 (office hours) for ticketing information.
We look forward to seeing you all at this special event.

INTERNATIONAL GORDON BENNETT RALLY
Entries are ahead of 2016 at this point in the calendar and bedroom accommodation in Mount Wolseley is filling up quite quickly. We would ask anyone who is planning on entering this event on Friday 9th to Sunday 11th June to please send in their entry as early as possible.

26th IRISH CLASSIC & VINTAGE MOTOR SHOW, TERENCE
We have received details of this annual event, to be held on Sunday 2nd July, being organised by the IJDC, and we would encourage our members to book their car(s) in early for the IVVCC stand.
