The 2017 IVVCC International Gordon Bennett event took place from 9th-11th June with lunch in the renowned Arboretum in Leighlinbridge. Typical Irish weather prevailed over the three days, however, the participants enjoyed some lovely sunshine, particularly in Leighlinbridge at the designated lunch stop on Saturday.
139 cars were on the entry list, but due to illness, car mechanical issues, etc, 131 cars, ranging from 1900 to 1930, set out on Saturday morning from Mount Wolseley to take part in the serious and social aspects of the timed regularity sessions in both the morning and the afternoon.
Irish entrants were well represented with our international entrants from England, Wales, N. Ireland, South Africa and America!
Congratulations to our worthy overall winners and also to the winners in the various categories. It is particularly noticeable that competition is getting keener each year!
The event concluded on Sunday in the beautiful Altmont Gardens in sunshine and heavy showers but the Walled Garden Café, with their fancy cakes, was a welcome break!
We would like to thank all our participants who made this such a great event and we look forward to meeting you all in Mount Wolseley in June 2018 from 8th-10th June!
