THE IVVCC 2018
Classic Car Event
Sunday 23rd September

The event commenced in lovely autumnal weather at the Midway Service Food Court in Portlaoise and the designated route meandered up, down and over the quiet country roads of Offaly and Laois with time to view the spectacular scenery of the Slieve Bloom Mountains throughout the morning and early afternoon. We arrived at the historic Kinnitty Castle Hotel for a lovely lunch which was held in their historic banqueting hall. Forty eight classic cars were registered for the event and all arrived safely with ample time for socialising before our scheduled lunch of 2.00pm.   

As is customary on our events the entrants had the opportunity to choose their favourite cars in the three designated categories and this year the worthy winners are:

Michael Hickey in his iconic 1981 De Lorean DMC
Anselm Aherne in his 1967 Citroen IDB 19
Skip Heinicke in his 1957 Ford Thunderbird
(Skip’s Thunderbird was on its very first event outing and was the popular winner of the
Dublin Crystal Trophy for the car that most entrants wanted to take home)

Congratulations to our winners in the 2018 IVVCC Classic Car event. The voting was very close in all categories with only one or two votes separating the winners.

Our thanks to everyone who took part in the event and to the management and staff in Kinnitty Castle for their great service and food on the day.
